Gannon University Celebrates Fall Commencement 2020
One hundred forty-two graduates were recognized during Gannon University’s Fall 2020
Commencement ceremony today at 1 p.m. in the Hammermill Center.
Gannon President Keith Taylor, Ph.D., awarded degrees to graduates in attendance. This year’s graduating class of
142 students received nine doctoral degrees, 57 master’s degrees, 75 bachelor’s degrees and one associate’s
degree. Nine students graduated summa cum laude. Students from thirteen nations earned degrees.
This year’s keynote speaker was Pierre McCormick ’79, retired president and CEO of Wisconsin Distributors LLP.
To ensure the well-being of our communities, only graduating students attended this celebration in person. COVID-19
guidelines were enforced to ensure graduates celebrated as safely as possible and included completion of a COVID-
19 health survey, temperature scans, social distancing, mask wearing and other safe and healthy behaviors.
All family and friends were encouraged to join our graduates virtually to support and congratulate them on their
About the Speaker
Pierre McCormick ’79 is the retired CEO and president of Wisconsin Distributors LLP, a private firm that distributes
beer, liquor, wine, soft drinks, waters and more to more than 22 counties in Southern Wisconsin. Wisconsin
Distributors achieves more than $140 million in sales annually and employs more than 300 full-time employees.
McCormick graduated from Gannon University in 1979 with a BSBA in management. He began his career in 1986 in
Spring Green, Wisconsin. Under his leadership, Wisconsin Distributors acquired six contiguous distributors.
McCormick has served as a past chairman of the Wisconsin Wholesale Beverage Distributors Association. He is a
member of the chairman’s circle for the National Beer Wholesalers Association and was a board member of the
Madison Hospitality Council and former Downtown Madison Rotarian. He is a past board member of the Jefferson
McCormick is the managing member of Blue Pike Properties, an impact investment real estate company. He is also
an investor and owner in Lake Erie Rubber in Erie. He is a founding member of Erie Downtown Development Corp.
McCormick is married to Kathryn McCormick and has five children: Sean, Carla, Allan, Michael and Nicholas.
