Prayer Vigil on Friendship Green, Gannon University
Gannon University’s Black Student Union and Campus Ministry hosted a #BlackLivesMatter prayer vigil on Thursday, August 20 on Friendship Green. About 100 faculty, staff, students, and community members were in attendance for the peaceful event, following the University's mask and social distancing policy.
Representatives from both campus organizations honored black lives lost to police brutality and discrimination, spoke out against racism, and led prayers for equity and equality. The students of BSU passionately encouraged the Gannon community to step up and bring justice and freedom to all, leading moments of silence and call-and-response moments for lives lost.
