Program Highlight: Master of Science in Environmental Science and Management

The Master of Science in Environmental Science and Management is designed for individuals seeking careers in the environmental health and safety, and environmental management fields. The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering draws upon established relationships with local industries and environmental agencies, making Gannon University a regional leader in environmental quality, environmental health and environmental management. The program has recently launched a 4+1 program that allows students to complete a B.S. in Environmental Science Engineering and M.S. in Environmental Science and Management in only five years.

Students learn from faculty who hold extensive experience in their fields. Highlights of two of our accomplished faculty are below.

Michelle Homan, Ph.D., professor of environmental science and engineering, was appointed to the Air Quality Technical Advisory Committee by Patrick McDonnell, secretary of the PA Department of Environmental Protection.

Varun Kasaraneni, Ph.D., assistant professor of environmental science and engineering at Gannon, and Sherri Mason, Ph.D., of Penn State Behrend, received $120,000 from PA Sea Grant to Quantify Urban Litter Contribution to Plastic Pollution in Lake Erie and Assessing Best Mitigation Practices. Kasaraneni is active in teaching and research. He also serves on the Technical Advisory Committee for Penn Future Erie Chapter.
