Gannon family explore the seven zones of wellness.
Gannon University will host its 16th Annual Wellness Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Recreation and Wellness Center, 130 W. Fourth St.
This free event is an opportunity for members and friends of the Gannon community to explore what wellness means to them.
More than 60 health-centric vendors from local organizations such as the Allegheny Health Network, the Erie Downtown Development Co. and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania will attend in addition to nearly 70 campus departments, clubs and organizations. Vendors will share resources, knowledge and activities that help participants adopt holistic wellness into their lifestyles.
Mary Jean Taylor, PT, Ph.D., PCS, director of university wellness at Gannon, said this year’s theme – “Bee Well. Bee You.” – is a message of empowerment.
“We’re all in charge of our own wellness. I am excited for the opportunity to come together as a community and to really share and consider what it means to be healthy. It’s wonderful to nurture your well-being. It’s amazing what we can do for health when we all come together as a community,” Taylor said.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore each of the following wellness zones:
Emotional Wellness Zone: Learn to balance your emotional wellness through relaxation and comforting resources, including therapy dogs.
Environmental Wellness Zone: Taking care of the world around you is just as important as taking care of yourself. Find out more about eco-friendly topics such as recycling, upcycling and gardening.
Intellectual Wellness Zone: Experience the future of technology and broaden your global understanding with demonstrations by groups like Gannon’s Model UN and the robotics team, GUBotDev.
Occupational Wellness Zone: Test out active work stations as a healthy alternative to traditional settings and discover the top 10 ways to fortify your wellness at Gannon.
Physical Wellness Zone: Complete a ninja obstacle course, participate in cooking demonstrations, and interact with cutting-edge technology in Gannon’s Human Performance Laboratory.
Social Wellness Zone: Meet the staff, coaches and athletes of your favorite on-campus organizations and teams and make memories with friends playing yard games or snapping pictures in the photo booth.
Spiritual Wellness Zone: Develop your spiritual wellness through prayer and meditation sessions.
