Gannon University was recognized as a Great College to Work For, according to The Great Colleges to Work For® 2023 program.

Gannon was also named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll, a status granted to only 42 institutions nationwide who are highlighted most across the recognition categories.

This is the sixth time the university has been recognized as a Great College to Work For and the second time receiving the Honor Roll distinction, joining select universities and colleges across the nation that have proven committed to their employee experience.

Gannon was identified as a workplace that excelled among peer institutions in six of the 10 assessment categories, including:

  • Mission & Pride

  • Faculty & Staff Well-being

  • Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness

  • Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

  • Confidence in Senior Leadership

  • Job Satisfaction & Support

“As a university focused on transforming the lives of our students and employees and those we interact with every day, this recognition supports in affirming the positive impact of the Gannon University experience,” said Gannon President Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D. “Gannon is a community that values the well-being and contributions of our faculty and staff, and we are grateful for the employees on our Erie and Ruskin Campuses who inspire our students and one another to be their best selves – they are the reason why Gannon University is a great place to work.”

The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. Now in its sixteenth year, it recognizes the colleges with top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire by ModernThink Higher Education Insight Survey that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution as well as a survey administered to employees. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

The results, released in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 194 colleges and universities. In all, 72 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Gannon was one of 50 four-year institutions to earn the distinction. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Gannon included among the medium universities with 3,000 to 9,999 students.
