2023 X-Culture: Connecting Cultures, Lublin Poland
The Dahlkemper School of Business emphasizes experiential opportunities in conjunction with academics. In IMGT 306/Global Business, Dr. Kibler leads the students through a signature experience with X-Culture whereby DSB students are assigned to teams of students from across the globe (one student each from a different country) to spend the semester formulating solutions to real business problems submitted by global organizations worldwide.
This summer, students from the top-performing teams were invited to attend the week-long X-Culture Global Business Symposium in Lublin, Poland. With support from the Dahlkemper School of Business, students Halle Petrillo and Edwin Lopez were able to attend the Symposium, along with Dr. Bruce Kibler whose travel was supported in part by a Gannon University Barker Grant.
Students from around the world arrived in Lublin, Poland after having qualified as the top-performing students from approximately 15,000 students worldwide. X-Culture finds companies with international business challenges and global virtual teams (GVT) of students from across the globe are put together to cooperate across cultures, languages and time zones, to work towards solutions for the companies. The top performers over a given academic year are then invited to compete again at Global Business Week. Participation is by highly selective-only 150 students and 25 professors worldwide are invited!
This year the week-long competition was held at Gannon University’s partner institution in Poland, Marie Curie Sklodowska University. DSB students and Dr. Kibler were able to visit one of the four Lublin-based companies that were part of the Symposium, MasterMedia, Europe's largest food distribution company.
