Prospective MAT Students apply to the Graduate School/MAT
program through ATCAS

Admission Requirements
Professional Master of Athletic Training (post-
baccalaureate)
- Baccalaureate degree
from an accredited college or university with a minimum 2.75
overall grade point average (4.0 scale).
- Two letters of
recommendation
- Personal essay
- Students whose
native language is not English and who intend to begin their degree
immediately must demonstrate English language proficiency with the
following documentation: Minimum TOEFL iBT of 80.
- Prerequisite course requirements:
- Biology (1 semester)
- Chemistry (1 semester)
- Physics (1 semester)
- Psychology (1 semester)
- Anatomy (1 semester)
- Physiology (1 semester)
Acceptance
Provisional Acceptance to the MAT is granted by the Gannon
University Graduate School. A letter will be sent to the Student granting Provisional
Acceptance. To obtain Full Acceptance the Student will be required to submit
the following documents.
Upon Formal Acceptance/Retention Requirements
- Maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average
- Proof of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification (or
equivalent)
- Proof of Membership in the National Athletic Trainers
Association (NATA)
- Proof of Medical Liability Insurance
- Proof of passing a Background Check
- Signed copy of the MAT Communicable Disease Policy
- Completed Athletic Training Program Emergency Contact Form
- Completed Blood-borne Pathogen Training
- Completed HIPPA Training
- Signed copy of the MAT Confidentiality Acknowledgement
Form
- Compliance with all MAT policies as listed in the handbook
Costs and Associated Costs with the Athletic Training Program (Student's Responsibility)

- Clinical Education Uniform (Black or khaki pants/shorts, closed
toe shoes)
- Transportation (to and from), food, & housing for Clinical
Education Sites
- Parking Permit at clinical sites (if required)
- National Athletic Trainers
Association Student Membership ($80 year)
- Physical, Immunizations, and any other medical costs
- CPR/AED certification (~$27)
- Individual Professional Liability Insurance (~$40 year)
- Certified Background/Online program document storage/
Background Check/Finger Printing (Year 1: $118 Year 2: $31)
- Board of
Certification Examination (Last semester in MAT, $35
application fee, $300 exam)
