Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program
Overview
Gannon University is a participating member of the Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program. The CIC Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP) is a network of CIC colleges and universities willing to accept, tuition-free, students from families of full-time employees of other CIC-TEP institutions. Through this program, Gannon University will offer three tuition awards each year to new undergraduate students. (Room and board, lab fees, and other University fees are not covered). The Tuition Exchange Program awards are available to students for eight semesters.
Criteria for Selection
Applications will be evaluated primarily on GPA, test scores, class rank and other information contained in the Admission Application. Applicants must be accepted as full-time degree seeking students.
Application Deadline: February 1
All admission materials must be received in the Office of Admissions by February 1. We recommend that the Admission Application be mailed by February 1. In addition, students should complete the Tuition Exchange Program Student Application Form and submit it to their exporting institution’s CIC Liaison, who in turn submits it to Gannon’s Human Resources Office by February 1.
Notification Process
The Gannon University selection committee will review all TEP applications in early March and offers will be sent by early April. Students have five business days to accept the award. Once acceptances from the three recipients have been received, all other candidates will be notified.
Maintenance Eligibility
Students who receive an award must maintain a 2.0 GPA and complete 24 credit hours at the end of each academic year, which will be verified by the Financial Aid Office. The students’ exporting institution must re-submit the TEP Student Application to receive funding in subsequent years.
Impact on Financial Aid
Gannon requires new and returning students to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year to be eligible for CIC-TEP through the Financial Aid Office. For the upcoming year, the appropriate FAFSA should be completed by March 15. CIC-TEP awards supersede previously awarded funds.
Other scholarships, grants and awards received (i.e., PHEAA, Pell Grants) can only be applied to University fees and books, but not applied to room/board. Gannon will reduce its tuition benefit when outside aid exceeds the direct costs of tuition, fees and books. Loans can be applied to room/board costs.
Tuition Exchange, Inc.
Overview
Gannon University is a participating member of Tuition Exchange, Inc. The Tuition Exchange is a network of 500 private colleges and universities willing to offer tuition “scholarships” to dependent children of families of qualifying employees of member institutions.
Tuition Exchange, Inc. requires that participating institutions balance the number of students exported with the number of students imported. This requirement means that Gannon must manage the number of dependent children that are certified as exports. Each year Gannon will seek to certify two students as “Tuition Exchange” eligible, subject to the conditions stipulated below, and provided that an offsetting number of students are imported.
Imports to Gannon
