Born in the US but raised in Hong Kong, I traveled the world and dipped my toes in many different waters before deciding to make psychology my home. I have had working experience in accounting, investment banking, R&D lab management, professional sports management, and photography, but have found that therapy & counseling, neuropsychological assessments, and teaching as being highly rewarding and enjoyable as a career.
I joined Gannon University in 2019 following a 2- year postdoctoral residency in neuropsychology. I earned my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA; my family moved to Erie in 2017. Prior to my doctorate, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Chatham University while working in robotics at Carnegie Mellon University.
I have taught multiple subjects across different disciplines over the years. I was also clinically trained in various settings, including college counseling centers, AHN and UPMC hospitals and clinics, and a private psychology/neuropsychology practice in Erie. I hope my clinical training experience can bring value to academia, where I can help students learn how academic knowledge can be applied in practical and clinical settings. Being Chinese, I offer a varied and multicultural perspective to topics in psychology and student experience.
I believe in lifelong learning and that all students, regardless of lifestage, can learn when we are personally motivated and invested.
Personally, I enjoy spending time with my kids, Star Wars, being outdoors, camping, kayaking, fishing, traveling, as well as cooking and FOOD! I've been known to travel and experience the world through my stomach and tastebuds. Although I don't spend as much time with it as I did before, I continue to enjoy photography a lot. I hope to pick up cycling regularly again as well!
