GANNON LACROSSE HOSTS EIGHTH-
RANKED QUEENS IN HOME OPENER

LADY KNIGHTS CONTINUE HOMESTAND MONDAY AGAINST DI NIAGARA

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women’s lacrosse team begins a three-match homestand Friday, March 21 against Queens (N.C.) at Gannon University Field. The home opener is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Lady Knights continue their homestand Monday, March 24 against Division I Niagara at 7 p.m. Live statistics for both matches can be found at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/women/lacro/lstats/xlive.htm.

Friday’s home opener will feature two of the nation’s top teams. Gannon enters the contest ranked sixth in NCAA Division II while Queens is tabbed eighth.

Gannon brings a 3-1 record into the homestand after seeing its season-opening three-match win streak snapped last Tuesday at Division I Canisius. Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) leads the Gannon offense with 11 goals, seven assists, and 18 points. Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) is the team’s top goal scorer with 16 scores in four matches. Mary Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) ranks third in goals (14) and points (16).

Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) has started every match in goal, posting an 8.57 goals against average and .620 save percentage.

Queens owns a 5-1 record, suffering its lone loss to second-ranked Limestone. The Royals ride a three-match win streak into Friday’s contest after consecutive victories over Regis (12-5), Seton Hill (19-9), and Shippensburg (12-10).

Niagara is 2-1 during the early portion of the schedule. The Purple Eagles dropped their season opener at Navy (21-5), but have rebounded with consecutive victories over Howard (18-12) and St. Francis (Pa.) (20-6)
