GANNON RANKED THIRD IN INITIAL
GREAT LAKES REGIONAL RANKINGS

KNIGHTS OBTAIN HIGHEST REGIONAL RANKING SINCE 2002

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men’s basketball team is ranked third in the initial NCAA Division II Great Lakes regional rankings released Wednesday afternoon. It marks Gannon’s highest regional ranking since being tabbed No. 1 in the region on January 9, 2002.

The regional rankings are important due to the fact that they represent how teams qualify for the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) post-season champions receive automatic bids. The top six remaining teams in the regional rankings receive at-large bids to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

Regional rankings will be released every Wednesday afternoon through the rest of the season. The NCAA Division II Tournament selection show is scheduled for Sunday, March 9.

Grand Valley State is the top-ranked team in the Great Lakes region with an 18-0 record against Division II teams and 15-0 mark against teams within the Great Lakes region. Drury (Mo.) (11-2, 10-1), Gannon (14-2, 14-2), Findlay (12-3, 11-3), and Lewis (Ill.) (10-4, 10-3) complete the top five.

Northern Kentucky (11-3, 9-3), Kentucky Wesleyan (12-3, 10-2), Wisconsin-Parkside (9-5, 9-5), Indianapolis (10-6, 8-5), and St. Joseph’s (Ind.) (10-7, 9-6) round out the top 10.

Gannon, ranked 15th in NCAA Division II, is 17-2 overall and 9-1 in the GLIAC. The Golden Knights sit in first place in the GLIAC South Division, holding a two-game lead over Findlay.
