GANNON MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO
13TH IN LATEST NATIONAL RANKINGS

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men’s basketball team dropped five spots and is ranked 13th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Division II Top 25 Poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The top three teams remained unchanged. Bentley (Mass.) (24-0) and Grand Valley State (28-0) stayed No. 1 and No. 2 in the national poll. They are the only undefeated teams left in NCAA Division II. Bentley received six first-place votes while Grand Valley State captured the remaining two.

Winona State (Minn.) (27-1), Northern State (S.D.) (24-2), and South Carolina Aiken (20-2) complete the top five. Findlay (22-3), Drury (Mo.) (20-3), Augusta State (Ga.) (19-4), Alaska-Anchorage (20-4), and C.W. Post (21-2) round out the top 10. Gannon is tabbed 13th with 110 points, 18 out of the top 10.

The new rankings still feature three teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in the top 15 for the third consecutive week. Plus, five Great Lakes region teams sit in the top 25 as Drury (Mo.) is tabbed seventh while Kentucky Wesleyan is listed 22nd.

Gannon moved its record to 22-3 overall and 14-2 in the GLIAC with a road split last week, winning at Ashland (77-55) and falling at sixth-ranked Findlay (90-61). The Golden Knights have already clinched at least a share of the GLIAC South Division title and can win the title outright for the first time since 1999-00 with a victory in their regular-season finale.

Gannon has also already clinched its first GLIAC Quarterfinal home game since 2003-04 against an opponent to be announced. The Golden Knights return to action tonight (Feb. 19) at Tiffin before its regular-season finale Saturday, February 23 against Mercyhurst. Game time against the ‘Hurst is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The contest can be heard live on Jet Radio 1400 and via the Internet at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/werg/knightsound.ihtml.
