GANNON MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
REMAINS 15TH IN LATEST TOP 25 POLL
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
men’s basketball team remained 15th for the second consecutive week in the
latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Division II Coaches
Top 25 Poll released Tuesday afternoon.
The top three teams remained unchanged. Bentley (Mass.) (18-0) and Grand
Valley State (22-0) stayed No. 1 and No. 2 in the national poll. They are
the only undefeated teams left in NCAA Division II. Bentley received five
first-place votes while Grand Valley State captured the remaining three.
Winona State (Minn.) (22-1), South Dakota (16-1), and Alaska Anchorage (16-3)
completed the top five.
West Liberty State (W.Va.) (15-1), Drury (Mo.) (15-2), Northern State (S.D.)
(18-2), South Carolina Aiken (15-2), and Augusta State (Ga.) (13-3) rounded
out the top 10. Gannon is tabbed 15th with 95 points, 28 out of the top 10.
Four Great Lakes Region teams are listed among the nation’s top 25. Grand
Valley State (2nd), Findlay (11th), and Gannon (15th) represent the Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Drury (7th) from the Great
Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) is also listed in the poll.
Gannon moved its record to 17-2 overall and 9-1 in the GLIAC after a pair
of big GLIAC South Division road victories last week at Wayne State (65-39)
and Hillsdale (80-75). The Golden Knights can match the best 20-game record
in school history with a victory Thursday night against SVSU.
Gannon begins a four-game homestand this weekend with games against Saginaw
Valley State (January 31) and Northwood (February 2). Both games can be heard
live on Jet Radio 1400 and via the Internet at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/werg/knightsound.ihtml.
