Assistant Coach Ryan Price
Gannon head men’s basketball coach
John T. Reilly has completed the men’s basketball coaching staff with the
addition of Ryan Price Wednesday afternoon.
Price assumes the position left vacant by La-Troy Farrow’s resignation in
late October to accept the head coaching position for the Premier Basketball
League’s (PBL) Quad City Riverhawks. Price recently served as a student assistant
coach at Henderson State (Ark.) University during the first semester of the
2007-08 season while finishing his General Studies degree.
The Roanoke, Va., native led Henderson State to a 23-9 record, the Gulf
South Conference West Division Championship, and the second round of the
NCAA Division II Tournament as a player last season. The former guard started
32 games in 2006-07, averaging eight points and 3.7 rebounds. He shot 48
percent from the field.
Price originally began his collegiate career at Division I McNeese State
(La.), where he played three seasons. He was named McNeese State’s Newcomer
of the Year as a freshman and was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year
for the Cowboys, a feat accomplished only once in school history by National
Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Famer Joe Dumars. In all, he scored 851
career points in four seasons.
Price played his high school basketball at William Fleming in Roanoke, Virginia,
where he earned all-district and all-region accolades. He is single and resides
in Erie, Pa.
His father, Tic, is currently an assistant coach at North Texas University
after previously serving as the head coach at the University of New Orleans,
the University of Memphis, and McNeese State.
