Meeting information for Global Community Volunteer Council

The Office of Global Support and Student Engagement (GSSE) at Gannon University invite community members from the local and greater Erie community to be part of the Global Community Volunteer Council (GCVC)!  The GCVC is a new initiative to increase opportunities for friendship and cultural exchange between Gannon’s international/global students and members of the local Erie community and surrounding region.  Our 400+ global students at Gannon represent over 50 different countries, cultures and ethnic groups.   The GSSE is seeking to develop the following programmatic services through the establishment of a Global Community Volunteer Council:

?      Global Student Orientation - GSO (Occurs twice a year in mid-August and in early January)

?      Assistance with pick-ups / transportation for new global student arrivals at the Erie International Airport

?      Evening Meals and recreational activities during the Global Student Orientation (Aug. 12 - 15, 2019)

?      Friendship Family Program – Pairs community hosts with new global students for friendship and cultural exchange (not a residential program)

?      Promotes a sense of belongingness and connection between students and local families

?      Opportunity for families and students to learn about each other’s cultures, languages, hobbies, sports, and foods and more.

If you and / or your family are interested in participating on the Global Community Volunteer Council (GCVC), please contact the Office of Global Support and Student Engagement (GSSE) at globalsupport@gannon.edu or call (814) 871-7133
