Employment with professional teams is always highly competitive, and companies that run leisure sporting facilities or programs are expanding quickly with the maturity of the baby boomer generation. The median annual wage for athletes and sports competitors was about $40,000 nationally in 2008, with a wide range of salaries depending on the sector within the industry.
