What You'll Be Doing

fieldtrip Gannon University believes in the many possible paths scientists can travel. If you are interested in studying a wide variety of sciences, Gannon’s bachelor of science program can help you explore. As a science major, you will focus on a concentration in biology, chemistry, mathematics or environmental science, but will also experience many other scientific disciplines. Gannon’s ideal location in Erie allows science students to study and utilize Presque Isle State Park, the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and Lake Erie while providing research and internship opportunities within walking distance of the campus.

Many science graduates pursue advanced degrees and research opportunities. Salaries vary greatly depending on level of education, region and career field. A degree in science enables a student to pursue a variety of fields, including physical therapy and general science.

 

College Connections

Many pre-physical therapy students enroll in the science program, connecting the health sciences with the natural sciences.

Major Facts

    • Gannon science students have the opportunity to gain professional experience through laboratory assistant jobs, internships and co-ops. In addition, Gannon offers field experiences in the Bahamas and at Yellowstone National Park.

    • Gannon students conduct aquatic and environmental research using Gannon’s own research vessel, the Environaut.

    • Gannon science students gain leadership and professional experience through student organizations such as Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) Biology Honor Society, Chemistry Club, Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) and the Environmental Science Club.

    • Gannon science students are currently conducting research in a wide range of areas including genetics, ecology, robotics and aquatic ecology.
