For the convenience of educators looking for a Masters degree or a post-Masters certificate, Gannon University offers the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, Principal Certification and Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility programs in many outreach areas throughout Western Pennsylvania.
The Gannon University M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction is a 37 credit, non-thesis portfolio-based program. This Master’s degree focuses on the classroom teacher as a developer of long-range curriculum, instruction, assessment, and classroom materials. The intended result is a better behaved, more inspired, and higher performing student. The Gannon core curriculum is 25 credits, plus up to twelve credits earned from Gannon/Performance Learning Systems (PLS) courses may be used as electives.
The Gannon University Principal Certification program is an 18-24 credit program that requires a previous Master’s degree. This program stresses the importance of the principal as the most professional staff member of the school in the most strategic position to encourage, initiate and guide changes for the benefit of the student. The curriculum consists of 12 credits of coursework, 3 credits of practicum, and a 3 credit internship, plus any other prerequisites that may be needed.
The Gannon University Superintendent Letter of Eligibility program is a minimum of 27 credits, depending on the individual’s educational background. The program develops the superintendent as the formal leader of schools and school districts. They are recognized as the anchors of issues such as, learning, teaching and school improvement. This program requires a previous Master’s degree and Principal Certification.
