MECHANICAL ENGINEER (Energy).  This position is with the Architect of the Capitol and is located in the Office of Planning and Project Management, Design Services Division, Fire Protection and Mechanical Engineering Branch, Energy Section in Washington, DC.  The incumbent is an Energy Engineer for energy and water conservation projects which include energy savings performance contracting (ESPC) energy audits, implementation of the Capitol Hill Building Automation System (BAS), Energy Management and Controls System (EMCS) and other projects involving the planning, design, installation, replacement, modernization, inspection and/or testing of energy consuming systems serving buildings under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol (AOC).  In addition, reviews and provides technical advice for all AOC projects from an energy perspective.   Provides technical guidance to contractor counterparts on documentation requirements, including problem reports and troubleshooting plans.  Assures contractor performs in accordance with established procedures and that product conforms to established specifications and requirements; and provides advice and guidance when technical interpretation, opinion, or decisions are solicited.
