Paralegal / Legal Studies

Welcome to the Paralegal / Legal Studies Program at Gannon University. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about the advantages of our program.

First and foremost, the Paralegal / Legal Studies Program at Gannon University is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA). The ABA definition of a legal assistant is:

"A legal assistant is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, government agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible."

Also, in order to accommodate all types of students, the Paralegal/Legal Studies Program offers three study options: the Bachelor Degree Option, the Associate Degree Option, and the Certificate Option.

The Paralegal / Legal Studies Program at Gannon University is designed to prepare you for a legal career through a high-quality curriculum that leads to a practical application in the field of law. You will gain practical legal experience through internships, cooperative education, and other meaningful experiences. The program is committed to maintaining an academic environment in which students may succeed by providing developmental and remedial opportunities. The goals include intellectual growth, development of leadership skills, acquisition of effective communication skills, career planning, and employment.

Gannon University sits in the heart of the Legal Community of Erie County. This not only offers the students easy access to the Courts, but also provides opportunities for students to complete their internships, conduct research, and speak with professionals in the field of law that interests them.
