Laboratory and Research Facilities

Our facilities include a variety of on- and off-campus resources for scientific research by both faculty and students.  Zurn Science Center, our primary physical plant, has numerous well-equipped laboratory spaces for instruction.  And all of our faculty members teach the laboratory courses, with help from student Laboratory Assistants who are paid a stipend for their contributions to our diverse course offerings.

The Biology Department has a fleet of research vessels to assist in research projects on Lake Erie.   The department also conducts a number of research projects on nearby Presque Isle which has several kinds of aquatic ecosystems and terrestrial study areas for faculty and student investigations.

In nearby Findley Lake, New York, the department recently directed a cornerstone two year study of the fauna and flora for the development of a nature center.

There are other research spaces in the area that provide many opportunities for biological investigations.
