About Gannon

Working with your advisor.

Upon entering Gannon University all undergraduate students are assigned an Academic Advisor. Your Advisor will be a faculty member in your major field of concentration. If you are “undeclared” on a major, you will be assigned an Advisor from the Career Counseling and Development Office.

Your Advisor serves as a personal link to your Department and is the primary channel through which course scheduling, program planning and career exploration are completed.

Be sure to:
  • Meet with your advisor at the beginning of each semester, on Advising Day, and regularly throughout the semester.

  • Prior to Advising Day, set up an appointment with your advisor. Prepare by examining the courses offered for next semester and developing a schedule, as well as alternative courses.

  • Familiarize yourself with university and college/school policies and procedures by reading the Undergraduate Catalog and Student Handbook.

  • Keep files of all advising information you receive.

  • Take advantage of the College Student Inventory (CSI).
