INTERNATIONAL STUDENTStc
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Gannon has a long tradition of welcoming international
students into our community. The presence of international students is regarded
as a great source of cultural enrichment for the university community. The
international insight and experience brought to the various graduate classrooms,
and the opportunity for American students to develop friendships with persons
from widely divergent cultures, enhances the graduate experience.
International Student Services
International graduate students
are offered the services of the university’s international student office, and
are encouraged to participate in the International Student Association. Each
year the Association offers a series of culturally enriching programs for the
university community, including the annual International Night.
English Language Requirements
Students for whom English is not
the native language are required to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign
Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and
achieve a satisfactory score. Upon arrival at Gannon, such students may also be
asked to demonstrate their writing ability and verbal skills. Information on the
TOEFL test can be obtained by writing to:

Admission Requirements
International applicants must submit official notarized
English translations of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, TOEFL or
IELTS results, 3 letters of recommendation, financial affidavit of support, and
required standardized test scores (see academic requirements). The Graduate
Admissions Committee will not render a decision until originals of all required
admissions records are received.
All records become the
property of Gannon University and cannot be returned to the applicant nor
forwarded to a third party.
Financial Arrangements
Students must submit a financial affidavit of support as
part of the admission requirements. Per United States immigration laws, this fi
nancial statement and supporting documentation must show that all educational
expenses, including tuition, room, board, books and international travel, can be
fully met by the student, his/her family, or a sponsor for the duration of the
student’s stay in the United States.
Once a student has been admitted, and the financial affidavit of support has
been reviewed and approved, the student will be sent a letter of acceptance and
an I-20 form. Students must notify the Director of the International Student
Office of their planned date of arrival.
Although financial assistance is very limited for graduate
study at Gannon University, students will be automatically considered for any
available aid. Information regarding assistantships is available from the
various academic departments. All students must make arrangements to pay their
tuition and fees (and room and board if
applicable) prior to the first day of class each semester. Students may estimate
the cost of attending Gannon University from the Tuition and Fees information
provided in this catalog.
