Adult Undergraduate Students

Can I get a degree by taking strictly evening classes?
Programs most conducive to an evening schedule include:

  • Business Administration (Associate or Bachelor degrees)
  • Criminal Justice (Associate degree)
  • Legal Studies - Paralegal (Associate or Bachelor degrees)
  • Liberal Arts (Associate degree)
There are also many other courses offered in the evening which are related to other majors. It is possible for you to take courses in areas such as Finance, Management, Marketing, Education, Criminal Justice, MIS, and the Sciences in the evening. Additionally, all of the classes in Gannon’s Liberal Studies core are offered through evening classes.

What is the difference between part-time and full-time attendance?
Part-time study for undergraduate students is considered eleven or fewer credits per semester (generally taking fewer than four courses per semester). Full-time study is twelve or more credits per semester (generally taking four or more courses per semester).

Who should apply through the Center for Adult Learning instead of the Admissions Office?

  • Full-time adult students (21 years of age or older) who have never attended college
  • All part-time students (regardless of age), whether they wish to attend day or evening classes
  • All transfer students who wish to attend on a part-time basis
  • All re-admit students who wish to attend on a part-time basis
  • All special/non-degree students (regardless of age) whether they wish to attend full-time or part-time

How can I get an application?
You have several options.

How does the company reimbursement process work?
If your employer offers a tuition reimbursement plan, Gannon does not require that you pay the full amount of your tuition up front. We offer the following program:
  • If your company offers 100% reimbursement, a $100 deposit is required at the beginning of the semester.
  • If your company offers a partial reimbursement, you are required to pay all tuition and fees not covered by your company before classes begin.
It is necessary to fill out a company reimbursement agreement form in order to take advantage of this program.

The balance of the tuition will be paid in full within 30 days from the last day of the semester, or the student will be liable for a $50 late fee. Company or grade delays will have no effect on the payment due date. The student will be reimbursed directly from his or her company, and will be responsible for payment of the tuition to Gannon University. If the student withdraws from a course, he or she is responsible for the full amount of tuition and fees charged (not just the initial deposit) in accordance with the published refund policy.

Do part-time students qualify for financial aid?
Qualified part-time students who are taking six credits or more can apply for PHEAA grants, PELL grants, and Federal Stafford Student Loans. Please refer to Financial Facts and Policies for Part-Time Undergraduate Students for details.
