Gannon's Education Programs will prepare you to make a significant difference in the lives of others. You'll get first-hand field experience working in area classrooms during your first three years. Then you will practice your acquired skills during your senior year student teaching practicum.
- Gannon’s Education programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
- A single certification in Elementary Education is offered with a concentration in English, History, Math, and Science.
- Dual certification is offered in Elementary Education/Early Childhood, Elementary Education/Special Education, and Early Childhood/Special Education.
- Triple certification is offered in Early Childhood/Elementary/Special Education.
- Secondary Education certification is offered in Biology, English, Foreign Language-Spanish K-12, Mathematics, and Social Studies.
- Students are placed in an educational setting to work with students and teachers beginning in the second semester of their freshman year. Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education majors complete five field practicums. Secondary Education majors complete at least three field practicums.
- All Education majors complete a 14 week student teaching experience.
- The School of Education has developed partnerships with nine public school districts; the Erie Roman Catholic Diocesan Schools; the Barber National Institute, including the Elizabeth Black School; several charter schools, child-care centers, and alternative education sites.
- A personal computer lab is available for education majors including 16 PCs and educational curriculum software.
- Gannon Education graduates enjoy 97% job placement.
