Youth Summer Camps Offered

Gannon University will offer a number of sport and educational summer camps for children and youth of all ages.

A number of the camps include scholarships for participants who live in or attend school in Gannon’s Erie-GAINS neighborhood. The University’s Erie-GAINS (Gannon Alliances to Improve Neighborhood Sustainability) neighborhood encompasses the area bordered by Presque Isle Bay to the north, Parade Street to the east, 11th Street to the south and the Bayfront Parkway to the west.

The camps include:

  • EXCITE Summer Camp, June 13-15 – Designed for girls ages 11-14 who want to learn more about computers, programming and creating with animation. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7738 or 814-871-7620.
  • Women’s Basketball Fundamentals Camp, June 18-21 and July 30-Aug. 2 – Designed for girls in grades 2-9. The camp will emphasize basic fundamental skills such as shooting, passing, rebounding, dribbling and defense. A discount is available for girls who register for both weeks.   • Electrical and Computer Engineering Summer Camp, June 21-24 – Designed for high school juniors and seniors who want to learn more about engineering and related careers. The camp will emphasize hands-on and fun activities involving wireless communications, electricity and electronic system design, among others. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7620.
  • Women’s Basketball “Post” Camp, June 22-23 – Designed for girls in grades 6-12 who typically play near the basket or at the forward/center positions. The camp will focus on both offensive and defensive skills. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7419.
  • Boys and Girls Soccer Camp, June 25-29 – Designed for ages 6-16. Full- and half-day options are available. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7230.
  • Boys Basketball Camp, June 25-28 and July 23-26 – Designed for grades 2-9. The camps will include fundamentals, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games and more. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7212.
  • Women’s Basketball Shooting Camp, July 9-12 – Designed for grades 6-12. The camp will emphasize the development and acquisition of proper shooting technique through drills, competitions and more. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7419.
  • High School Journalism Workshop, July 9-13 – The workshop is designed for sophomores, juniors and seniors and will emphasize news and feature writing. Topics include journalistic writing and style, interviewing techniques, beat reporting and ethics and the media. For more information or to register, call 814-871-5808.
  • Girls Volleyball “All Skills” Camp, July 16-19 – Designed for grades 7-12. Will emphasize passing, setting, serving, attacking, blocking and defense and will incorporate sport-specific strength and flexibility training. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7245.
  • Girls Volleyball Skill Clinic, July 16-19 – Designed for girls in grades 9-12. The camp will include focused skill development and acquisition for hitters, setters and liberos (back row specialists). For more information or to register, call 814-871-7245.
  • Young Writers’ Workshop, July 16-20 and Aug. 13-17 – Designed for grades 4-12. Participants will learn to develop their writing process and produce working manuscripts of publishable writing.   • Theatre eXperience Camp, July 16-21 – Designed to help high school students learn more about Gannon’s theatre program. Students will take classes in performance and theatre history and will explore elements of technical theatre, vocal performance and writing for the stage.   • Girls Volleyball “Beginners” Camp, July 18-19 – Designed for ages 7-13. Will emphasize skill development and acquisition through supervised practice and repetition. For more information or to register, call 814-871-7245.
  • ShakeXperience Theatre Camp, July 23-28 – Designed for high school students with a passion for the theatre. The camp will include workshops in performance, text analysis, movement, music, history and improvisation.
