Gannon University’s Small Business Development Center Hosts Free Viewing Of TEDxErie Event

Posted: November 13, 2015

Gannon University's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a public viewing of the live stream of the inaugural TEDxErie event on Saturday, November 14 from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Center for Business Ingenuity, 900 State St.

Persons attending this free event, with the theme "The Rising Tide," will hear talks by 12 local and regional presenters drawn from business, the arts, community activism and many other areas of endeavor. One of the presenters, Wei-Shin Lai, M.D., is CEO of AcousticSheep LLC, a client of the SBDC and of Gannon's Erie Technology Incubator. Dr. Lai is the inventor of SleepPhones, a product that won an Innovation Award at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show.

The Gannon SBDC is a major sponsor of the inaugural TEDxErie event. TEDx events are independently organized to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection. TEDx events using TED Talks videos or a combination of live presenters and TED Talks videos are designed to catalyze deep conversation and connections at the local level.

"We're delighted to get in on the ground floor of what we hope will be a transformative event," said Margaret U. Horne, Director of Gannon's SBDC. "TEDxErie is built around the premise that collaboration and the exchange of ideas can catalyze economic growth. The Center for Business Ingenuity was designed around this same principle, and is thus an ideal site for this live-streaming event."
