Employment Outlook
Students are encouraged to shadow various veterinarians to learn more about careers in veterinary medicine. The Center for Experiential Education at Gannon University can help students obtain shadowing, mentoring or internship opportunities with a veterinarian in Erie, Pennsylvania or near your hometown.
Nearly all Veterinary Schools have shadowing time requirements. It is important to research Veterinary Schools early to determine how many hours are required to meet the admission requirements.
Students are strongly encouraged to keep a journal or log-book of shadowing/mentoring opportunities with Veterinarians to document the time involved, thoughts on your observations and details related to the Veterinarian that you shadowed.
