Admission Requirements

  • GU Undergraduate Requirements 

    • Achieve a minimum SAT score of 1170 or higher in critical reading and math or ACT composite score of 26 or higher
    • Achieve a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
    • Provide evidence of scholarly, professional and personal potential and a desire to become a dentist
    • Submit a personal statement or essay
    • Successfully complete an interview with LECOM
    • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Complete a signed release form (provided after acceptance granted) 

    LECOM Early Acceptance Pre-Dental Program Admissions Process

    Students should apply early! Students applying to this program are encouraged to apply by the November 1st deadline. The first five (5) competitive, eligible, and complete applications will be guaranteed acceptance. Additional students may be considered on an individual basis and at the discretion of LECOM. Guaranteed acceptance for the first five (5) eligible students will not be granted until all requirements listed below have been satisfied. Once offered acceptance, students will be given two weeks to pay the enrollment deposit to reserve their space in the program. If the deadline passes without a deposit, the space will be offered to another student.

    Students who wish to be considered for the LECOM affiliation program with Gannon University must: 

    • Complete the online enrollment form available on the LECOM website (www.lecom.edu; search for “Undergraduate Affiliates”),
    • List Gannon University as one of the top three schools you are interested in attending on the LECOM enrollment form,
    • Successfully complete an interview with LECOM and
    • Successfully apply to and be admitted to Gannon University’s LECOM Early Acceptance Dental Program. 

    LECOM Medical School Requirements

    Students will be provided with a complete electronic copy of all requirements for successful completion of the “4+4” Early Acceptance Program with LECOM upon admission to the program. A sample of entry requirements to Phase II include following:

    • Maintain a minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 at the end of each term in all years prior to the year of matriculation at LECOM School of Dental Medicine
    • Achieve a minimum overall GPA of 3.4 or higher at the time of application
    • Achieve a minimum science GPA of 3.2 or higher at the time of application
    • Successfully complete the Dental Admission Test (DAT) with a competitive score (typically ≥ 16)
    • Shadowing approximately 100 hours or more in a clinical dental setting is highly recommended
    • Apply to LECOM School of Dental Medicine through AADSAS by November 15th of the year preceding the year the student plans to matriculate at LECOM and complete all related application materials in an efficient manner
    •  Successfully complete a criminal background check
    • Meet and agree to LECOM’s Health and Technical Standards
    • Students admitted to this program cannot apply to any other dental schools
