GU Mechanical Engineering Facts
Gannon offers the only master’s degree in mechanical engineering in the region.
Gannon’s engineering graduates are offered up to five times as many jobs as the average college graduate.
Seniors in Gannon’s mechanical engineering program have the opportunity to specialize in energy; fluid and thermal systems; or mechanics, structures and machine design. Students work with their advisors to develop an individual course of study.
A five year cooperative professional practice program is also available. The student must meet the same course requirements of a four year student. Additionally, a total of four work sessions in industry are included.
Program provides excellent cooperative education/internship opportunities with local companies within the industry.
Gannon’s mechanical engineering graduates enjoy 100 percent job placement and 100 percent graduate school acceptance.
Major Facts
The average starting salary of a mechanical engineer is in excess of $50,000.
IS professions are identified as a “high priority occupation” by the Pennsylvania Center for Workforce Information and Analysis.
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, salary offers for IS graduates average about $54,000 per year, with a range of $50,000 to $60,000.
About the Program
The School of Engineering and Computer Science in cooperation with The Dahlkemper School of Business Administration offer a special program leading qualified undergraduates to a bachelor of science in engineering degree and a master of business administration (MBA) degree. This program is completed in five years of full-time study (including three summers).
Gannon mechanical engineering students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through student organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
