GU Electrical and Computer Engineering Facts
Gannon offers the only master’s degrees in engineering in the region. Students can specialize in electrical engineering, embedded software engineering or engineering management.
Through a special five-year program, our students complete a paid, one-year, full-time cooperative education placement (alternating full-time studies and full-time employment).
Our students participate in funded NASA mission-related design projects.
For the past four years, our graduates have enjoyed a 100 percent placement rate, either in employment or in continuing higher educational degrees.
Our close relationship with Erie’s GE Transportation plant gives students opportunities for internships, co-ops and jobs, and allows for constant industry input into existing and new course offerings.
Major Facts
Electrical engineering graduates are offered up to five times as many jobs as the average college student.
About the Program
Gannon’s Center for Communication & Information System (C2IS) conducts funded research with students to help bridge engineering projects with local high-tech companies.
As part of their senior design project, our seniors successfully launched a high altitude weather balloon tracking system to a height of more than 90 thousand feet.
All Gannon electrical and computer engineering students have the opportunity to participate in national professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the National Honor Society for Electrical Engineers (Eta Kappa Nu).
The electrical and computer engineering department has the largest group of international students from places such as China, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore and Africa.
The department has published more than 34 peer-reviewed professional technical articles in national and international conference proceedings over the past four years.
